State of the Union
I'm so sick of watching CNN and Fox and news in general in the run-up to the American Presidential elections. It seems that the Left and Right are just as jingoistic, militaristic and unhinged as ever. Any true discussion concerning American foreign policy cannot be found anywhere in mainstream media. Instead we find a bizarre, fractured MTV version of the USA in which absolutely nothing of any consequence is ever interconnected. Absolutely no-one with any political power is to blame for the tortured state that America finds itself in; there is no blame, no culpability and no responsibility. Only a propaganda echo-chamber that immolates all lucid, critical thinking and reduces debate into a carefully controlled tapestry of buzzwords and self-congratulation.
It is my suspicion that the elite power-brokers of America are just itching to take part in a potential new World War. They are simply waiting, planning and scheming to create the most profitable outcome. But the social fabric of America itself - the people - are not intended to have much say in this. This might sound insane to some people, but previous large-scale global conflagrations seemed to have worked out pretty well for the elites (but for the other 99% of the human population, not so much).
Any political group who tries to sell war as empowerment and the enactment of freedom should be regarded as very sinister indeed. Any rich member of a corporate elite who tries to present military action as unavoidable and necessary should be regarded with deep suspicion. Doesn't this apply to the current American administration just as much as Bush's eight-year travesty? I believe it does. The only war we should be fighting is the War of Imagination, against the very elites who falsely claim to govern and protect us.
The following video is a satirical take on the ideologies of these elites, and the true State of the Union that they claim to uphold.
