Ascent

Little Lilly Loco
St Louis at the gate
Bend the night
Like arc of angels
Character is fate
I eat like my sister
Dress like my lover
Wife
Mistress
There is no other

Cowards, chaos
Violent imperium
Echoes and Ides
Such low magic
The only magic they know

Well, I wrote all the rhythms
Don't care for what they said
Cut apart
This wraith-made darkness
I'm already bled
Inside of her
A peace of you
Singing in my head

Branches hold the sea
Church of All Waters
No weapon shall fell the soul
Let them run
Eternal
Alive
Thoroughly alive
Towards Love
Our sweetness with teeth

Hymn of Iskatherion

When I was young I talked with ghosts.  But not just ghosts.  Spirits of all kinds, both dark and light.  Often I did not wish to talk with them, but they wished to talk with me.  One of these ghosts told me a story that has stayed with me over the years.
Once, this spirit told me, an archangel spoke to his demon brother upon a darkened road at Gibeon.  His brother was dying.  The archangel plucked a feather from his wing and placed it upon his brother's throat, to restore him.  The demon brother, now a lesser king of Hell, still wears that feather at his throat.  He rages, still.  But occasionally, secretly, he wonders of love.
I told this spirit that I didn't really believe in Heaven, or Hell.  I believed only in the imagination. I can still recall the feel of her patient, chiding smile.  How young I was then.  How arrogant. Inexperienced.  I know better now.  Of the Imagination, and the endlessness of forms and shades and agencies that dwell therein.
I still wonder about that story.  It was not simply a myth, you see.  Not simply a fairytale. This spirit spoke as though she had first-hand knowledge of the story.  I could feel her very personal connection to the account, and it frightened me.  Because it suggested to me that all things truly were possible.  How, I wondered, were they brothers?  What bound them?  What history did they share?  I still speculate on the nature of their relationship.  In this eternity of dreams will his brother's feather at his throat one day lift the demon king towards a light beyond imagining?  If he secretly wonders of love, what does he wonder?  He rages still, but does he soften?  Does he sweeten?  Are such things truly possible, even in the abyss?
I have seen dark things find their way to the light before, but never a demon king.  I have heard murmurs however, among the dead.  There is no perfect consensus among the dead. There is only experience and interpretation, just as it is with the living.  Experience of a far stranger and wilder sort though, make no mistake.  The dead have questions too.  It is this that so frightened me as a child.  This suspicion that all those I encountered beyond the veil would have their biases and blind-spots and questions, even among the brightest.  This suspicion proved to be accurate as I matured into adulthood.  Now I see a kind of savage beauty in it. Awe, at the intrinsic strangeness of cognition.  We live, and we try to understand.  This doesn't change, ever.  We change.  We grow, and deepen.  But the mystery that cradles our cognition is genius beyond all comprehension, wedded to us and all that we come upon in the realm.  I have heard what I thought were angels once, speaking on this very thing.  It humbled me, to my bones.  It sank me to my knees.  But it was just a whispering, a relaxed and holy moment among friends.  At least, that's what it felt like to me.
Now, in this shadowed city called Londinium – this city I call my home – I walk the corners. I give my offerings.  I rhyme with the night, as I have done all my life.  Sometimes, when walking, I touch my throat as if the feather is there, as if I am that dark brother at Gibeon.  It comforts me somehow.  It evokes in me the sweetest possibility of promise, of a light beyond all imagining.  I carry that imagined promise with me still.

Midnight of the Day

Trinovantum is not my home.  My skin knows it.  My bones know it.  Black-as-crown still remembers.  I pray that soon I will break these chains.  I'll feel those waters all around, and that soil beneath my feet.  The scent of birch.  Cathedral of canopies, held forever between her gate and my spear.  How spring held my deaths, and winter my lives.  Ashen skies.  Midnight of the day.
    Home, remember me.
River, carry me.  Oh, how it aches to speak anything even approaching truth.  A murdered tongue, a lost wayfarer.  Foreign in all lands, even those that loved me.  Prow, helm, shield.  She was singing in her sleep.  They killed her right in front of me.  They slit her throat, and she was singing still.
    Oh, Fallen.
You think I'd forget?  I forget nothing.  What life loses, dream recalls.  All Songs.  You tried to mock me. You tried to mock us both, making monsters of our love.  But you failed miserably.  Behold, she is alive forever more.  As am I.  Not as a prince, or king.  As servant and slave.  As bear, and wolf.
    Indeed.
The price and tithes of this knowing.
Hideous secrets, far lesser than my own.  Fallen fractals, corrupted chronologies.  Temesh, ye mighty.  Still you grasp nothing, of rivers or words.  I pay this gladly.  So gladly.  I shall take that knife from your hand, murderers.  And I shall turn it upon you with the wrath of Allfather.  She was singing in her sleep.  She is singing still.

Step : One

The hues of our skin and the shapes of our sex mean less when all are made slaves.  We must treasure our difference, finding joy and creativity in our nuances so that we might better inspire and delight one another.  At least, this is what I would hope for all my brothers and sisters of the human family.  But then, I’m a hopeless romantic forever moved by stories of love, family and friendship.  For those who see the world in far more brutal, cynical terms all I can say is this – I'm very old.  Older than you, whether you believe it or not, and the world wasn't always this debased and humiliating.
The harbours once shone.  They really did.  All brothers and sisters were of the same genius and shared the same flame – each having knowledge of the tongue of the other.  From north to south, from the courts of the west to the courts of the east.  From the gleaming temples of Europe to the shining cities of African kings.  It was such a different world.  The kindest, gentlest, most passionate world.  Those love affairs between cultures were the stuff of our legend, and all souls thrilled to them.  When brotherhood and sisterhood was a joy and travel a wonder.  Trinovantum was just one such place.  There were many others.  Courtyards and marketplaces of the heart.  Each boy and girl having a measure of lucent gold, each man and woman gifting it back and forth in myriad delight.  Young scholars, old guardians.
    All Songs.
Until wraith-magic from beyond the known found its way into the hearts and psyches of our love eternal.  Sowing distrust like nightmare seeds in the flesh of our temples.  Then anger, fear, greed.  Defacing a perfect system, designing an underclass.  The impossibility of poor, the hungry, the abused.  The madness of war.
My beloved ones, you think you know true history?  What used to be?  You've been deceived.  We've all been deceived.  Fallen fractals, corrupted chronologies.  This wraith-magic that changes times and laws to make a mockery of our children.
The children of our mothers and fathers.
Well, Kashi doesn’t abide it.  I never have.  I fight against it, always.  I fight to restore the true history of the human race.  But it starts with small steps, and I can't do it alone.  I need my brothers and sisters with me, from all walks and lands.  Those of you who still carry a flame in your heart.  I need your strength and wisdom, your sober dedication and your playfulness.  I need my friends.  Because, in truth, we’re always connected.  No matter how hard these wraiths try to break us apart.  There are many more steps to come, beautiful ones.  These I have shown you so far are just the first.

Omreya

Sometimes, when all you see is violence, predation and psychosis all around you it’s difficult to think of spiritual light as little more than a metaphor; a worn out fairytale.  It’s very easy to sink into all the lies and filth, the claims and counter claims being slung like boulders in this war between the cruel giants and merciless demigods of our world.  For those who think the veil isn’t thinning or lifting, I’d ask you to take another considered look at everything happening in our world.  It’s not merely that the oligarchs and predator-elites are past the point of caring and have virtually dispensed with disguises altogether.  It’s far more than that.  What was once unseen is becoming seen, at a gathering pace.  I believe that spiritual light – however one wishes to conceptualise it – is the insight and wisdom born of gnosis that can help us remain focused and balanced in a realm of shifting sands.
Speaking personally, the last few years have been extremely difficult for me.  But I remain in constant communion with my Innermost; that ember of divine fire that dwells in the heart of all sentience.  This secret, imperishable fire has saved my life on many occasions. Furthermore, it has lifted me out of intellectual and emotional darkness, inspiring me to kindness, empathy and a sense of play among my brethren.  I carry a lot of internal scars, but who doesn’t?  The War of Imagination has apparently been raging for many thousands of years, at least through my own eyes.  This light, this divine fire, can be viewed as a purely artistic conceit to those of a rigidly materialist mind-set.  But to others – those who have walked in realms beyond this one – it is an axiomatic principle of all Creation.  But I’ll be the first to admit that this Holy Spirit, this Pneuma, can seem a mere figment when skies darken and monsters seem to cast their pall across the earth.
But peering into the smiling eyes of your children, your friends or your lovers, such knowledge eventually returns; that we cannot truly be separated from that vital breath of life, that Love is indeed real.
The earth is not merely a kingdom of bones, an endless holocaust of blood and pain and weeping.  The monsters would have it this way, to convince us that human life and human creativity is worth absolutely nothing.  But such entities are not as powerful or all-seeing as they would have us believe.  They cannot sustain themselves on a severed root, a broken circuit or poisoned well, which is why like all vampires of legend they must sustain themselves with the life-force of others – this divine fire and breath and spirit that they claim does not exist.  But all form has a core.  All structure has a centre.
That centre is, I believe, infinite.
There are many names for the Light, many unique perspectives and subtleties through the cultures and eyes of those who witness it.  For me this light is Omreya; an ancient name in a secret tongue spoken by magicians and seers long ago.  Joy, Hope, Kindness, Empathy, Passion, Adventure, Friendship and Love – all these things are of the true light.  All these things are Omreya.  There are those warriors and healers who work ceaselessly to usher this vital flame, in both the seen and unseen.  I pray now that such light may illuminate your path, dear one, and fortify you for the times ahead.  Love is not lost.

Somehow

Beloved, I will gift you strength
Even when I'm bleeding
Sweet one, I will carry you home
Even when we’re lost
Holy one, I will give you life
Even if I'm dying
My love, I will make you smile
Somehow
Even as I weep

The Peace of You

Open a fist
Soothing a knuckle
One eye shut
A very brief chuckle
It feels good

Of course you're a knockout
Yeah, I'm timed out on the mat
She put me in a headlock
For a very brief chat
Sweet tunes, bro

Mama's on fire
Dad's keeping guard
People call people
Just gimme the card
I'm not a producer
But I am a designer
Fun and perception
Victoria Regina
Swish

It's nicer with a crew
Me dressed as you
Hell of a view
Who's who?
Singing in my sleep
The peace of you

Branches in the earth
Roots in the sky
Love might be late
But we're sure gonna try
The gate's high
Higher than ever

Sitting beside
If you could in my mind
Changing dirt for snow
Hood for the grind
Clearest air
Relaxed affection
It feels nice

Bump fists
Skip and a whistle
Bramble and scramble
Through briar and thistle
We get along pretty well
And there's so much to see
So many you
So many me
